【豆腐花】[Dau Fu Fa] Bean curd custard
Inside the bowl is the good looking white and smooth Chinese dessert - Bean curd custard / Bean curd pudding.
Making good use of soya bean , Chinese has turned the tiny bean into various type of food. From soya bean milk, bean curd (which is usually called Tofu), fermented bean curd (something similar to cheese) , soya sauce , to this traditional dessert 豆腐花 .
The bean curd custard is actually the side product of soya bean milk , cooking plaster powder is the clue to turn the milk into curd. Amount of plaster added determines the softness, the harder one will be used as bean curd for cooking , and the soft one will be served as bean curd custard as dessert.
Syrup and brown sugar are added for the sweetness, and it can be served either cold or hot. You can easily find it in dessert shop, and those bean product shops at the local wet market.
Order [Dung dau fu fa] for the cold one, or [yit dau fu fa] for the hot one. Price ranges from $6 to $15 per bowl.
